Bal Tic Tac

The Bal Tic Tac was frequented by musicians and celebrities and its futurist atmosphere introduced modernity to Italian ballrooms.

The Bal Tic Tac was the first club for futurist dancing in Italy.

It was decorated by Giacomo Balla at the request of Ugo Paladini and his son Vinicio, a young architect and futurist painter, and one of Balla's students.

He looked after not only the paintings but also the atmosphere of the ballroom down to the smallest detail, from the design of the lights to the lighting effects, the furnishings and the stage where the orchestra played.

The inauguration was on 30 November 1921 and it was a huge success. Famous performers attended, such as Alfredo Gangi, Rome's leading banjo player, Ugo Filippini, the violinist and even Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, whose manifestos inspired futurism in Italy.

Despite its short history, the best musicians of that time played on the stage of the Bal Tic Tac. The music stopped in early July 1923, but it is remembered for bringing modernity to Rome's ballrooms.
