MUDEM's work experience programmes (PCTO) for secondary schools in the 2025-26 school year

In mid-September, Banca d'Italia published its offering of work experience programmes (PCTO) for secondary schools, which will provide 231 programmes to a potential platform of around 2,600 students nationwide. For the 2025–26 school year, the Money Museum is again running three distinct programmes, two of which are for schools in Rome and one for Italian schools abroad:

  • Museum Information and Communication: what lies beyond the exhibition is a programme in which students explore the communication channels used by museums – from the typical website to cataloguing campaigns, edutainment tools for younger audiences, and publishing comics;
  • Economics in science museums: the shapes of money focuses on designing and creating an exhibition on the pre-monetary items that form the ethnographic Voltolina Collection held at the Money Museum;
  • Museum banknotes is for students from Italian schools abroad, who will be invited to analyse the historical, iconographic and material aspects of a banknote from their country of residence. The project will involve making a video or creating an analogue or digital game to tell the story behind the banknote, both as a means of payment and as a representation of that nation’s collective memory.

If you're a teacher and would be interested in signing up for one of these programmes, follow the instructions in the 8-Step Guide. This is an opportunity for your class to experience a real work environment via a multidisciplinary experience centred on history, digital innovation and financial education. We at MUDEM look forward to seeing you… and wish you a great school year!
