The Adventure of Money comes to Trento

From gold to the digital euro

In the lead‑up to the 20th edition of the Festival dell'Economia di Trento, the Governor of the Banca d'Italia, Fabio Panetta, will take part on 12 April in the inauguration of the exhibition The Adventure of Money - From gold to the digital euro. Curated by MUDEM, the exhibition will be hosted by the Fondazione Caritro in Trento and will remain open to the public until 6 June.

Tracing a journey from ancient Mesopotamian loan contracts to modern electronic money, the Money Museum will illustrate how today's monetary and financial instruments can be identified in historical artefacts. It will also show how changes in the form and use of money offer a glimpse of what lies ahead, including the prospects opened by the digital euro.

Immersive projections - supported by rare and ancient artefacts - will guide visitors through the key transitions that have shaped our understanding of money and finance. These insights will help visitors to better appreciate contemporary lending and payment tools, as well as the institutions that govern their operation.

Designed with particular attention to schools, the exhibition is intended for all those who wish to navigate more confidently a world that can often seem complex and inaccessible.

Following the visit, the Governor will also join an on‑stage interview at the Teatro Sociale with Fabio Tamburini, Editor‑in‑Chief of 'Il Sole 24 Ore' and Chair of the Festival's Scientific Committee.
