MUDEM’s travelling exhibition for the 'On the road with Banca d'Italia' initiative
On 5-6 December in Verona, MUDEM will take part in 'On the road with Banca d'Italia - The Adventure of Money. From gold to the digital euro'. This is the Bank's journey around Italy, which makes several stops and aims to promote financial culture by talking about the central bank and setting up a direct dialogue with people, firms and institutions.
The Money Museum will take a small exhibition to the Banca d'Italia branch, called 'Money from the stars'. The items on display will tell the history of gold, from the collision of stars that created it to its role as currency and to the vaults for the central bank's gold reserves, which hold more than 2,450 tons of gold in the form of ingots and coins.
So - what is all this gold for and why do most of the peoples of the world still attribute such great value to this shiny metal?
