The focus of the workshop is on cognitive distortions, those mental shortcuts that help us decide quickly, but that are also liable to lead us astray, especially in the financial sphere.
In small groups, students work their way through branching stories where they have to make choices that change the course of the narrative. At the end of the activity, each group shares the outcome of their story, retracing their steps and identifying when and how the cognitive distortion set in.
The activity provides insights into some financial education concepts and encourages critical thinking, analytical skills and collaborative work.
The workshop is intended for lower secondary schools, lasts an hour and is free.
