The Festival, open to everyone, returns to Palazzo Esposizioni Roma with a rich schedule of events in Italian Sign Language (LIS)
The Punti di vista Festival – now in its second edition – will be dedicated this year to the Sign and the Language of Signs. On Saturday, 16 March, and Sunday, 17 March, visitors to the Palazzo Esposizioni Roma will have the opportunity to observe exhibitions from different perspectives and to shift their gaze on the world and people through multiple languages, from art to science, to cinema.
The activities of the festival will be free of charge. The schedule includes guided visits to ongoing exhibitions led by art historians and deaf astronomers, performances by deaf artists, university conferences on the theme of deafness, stories of experiences on the research of specific LIS signs in scientific or artistic fields, screenings of deaf cinema, readings, and workshops in LIS, and much more.
Among the many partners involved, this year the event will see for the first time the participation of MUDEM with the immersive exhibition The Adventure of Money, which will be visitable with special support in Italian Sign Language.
The visits are scheduled for the following times:
10.45 a.m. – 12 a.m. – 1.30 p.m. – 3 p.m. – 4.30 p-m.– 18.00.
Depending on the turnout and the availability of supports, other visits may be activated.
Furthermore, MUDEM has organized a special appointment with the deaf artist Rosaria Giuranna who, on this occasion, will recite her compositions "Euro" and "Nine Forgotten Months," poems that express her artistic strength through a visual rhythm in motion.
Tiziana Gulli from the Bank of Italy, alongside Giuranna on stage, will illustrate the genesis of the poem "Euro", composed for the International Week of Deaf People and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the introduction of the euro; watch the video here.
In the second part of the meeting, there will be a presentation on the new signs in Italian Sign Language (LIS) for economic and financial language, starting from the experience of the exhibition The Adventure of Money.
The event is free and will take place on Saturday, 16 March, starting at 3:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.
