Gold emerged from the explosion of two stars, and its story is told along an itinerary that winds its way through the Bank of Italy's gold reserves.

Itinerary

This part of MUDEM is on the basement floor of Villa Hüffer and has an exhibition all about gold.

This is a unique experience, with golden objects, gold nuggets, jewellery, coins and ingots, which takes visitors on a long journey that began billions of years ago in interstellar space. At the end of the itinerary, you can actually touch some of the ingots in the Bank of Italy's bank reserves.

Walking through gold

From the explosion of two stars to gold being used as money. The journey through gold goes hand in hand with the discovery of how this precious metal acquired its huge symbolic value and became the utopia of alchemists.
