Giacomo Balla's interior decor at the Bal Tic-Tac

Up until 2017, it was thought that all that survived of the first Futurist cabaret, the Bal Tic-Tac, were Balla's sketches for some of the furniture and other ornaments. All the murals were believed to have been lost, with only a few photos surviving in magazines from the time.

So, what is left of the Bal Tic-Tac?

The rooms on the first floor, where the dance hall was, were renovated several times in the twentieth century. The ground floor murals were partially preserved, however, covered and concealed by false ceilings and wallpaper, wood panelling and various coats of paint.

The video shows the initial findings of the original decor in 2017, during the preliminary surveys for the renovation of the building that was to house MUDEM.
