'The everlasting exchange' is a cycle of three meetings, set up by MUDEM in cooperation with MAXXI - National Museum of 21st-Century Arts, to tell the story of money's constant and unbreakable relationship with the main facets of human life: thinking and philosophy, beauty, art and its worth, and innovation, technology and finance.
On 5 December, the Carlo Scarpa room at the MAXXI is hosting the final meeting of the cycle, with an event called 'From gold to the digital euro: innovation, technology and finance', which is an opportunity to reflect on the past, present and future of money, together with Chiara Scotti, Deputy Governor of Banca d'Italia, and Barbara Carfagna, journalist and RAI tv presenter.
Money in the form of coins and banknotes, guaranteed by the state or by a central bank, had gone hand in hand with the development of civilization up until our times, when ties have been cut that had seemed unbreakable, as was the case with gold. Nowadays, innovation and technology are allowing us to shape money in new ways, providing people with new ways to pay and with the flexibility needed to adapt to today's complex economy.
